A finished Defender in final assembly, panels aligned and detailed

Commissioning Engineer

The last person to sign off a vehicle before its owner sees it. For someone who enjoys finding the fault nobody else did.

A commission passes through a lot of hands. One person has to decide it is finished.

That is this job.

The work

You take the vehicle from final assembly through validation to handover. Road testing in the weather everyone else would rather avoid. Electrical and driveline sign-off. The snag list, and the argument about the snag list.

TODO(copy): demonstration role awaiting the real vacancy.

What we are looking for

A background in vehicle development, motorsport, or restoration engineering. Defender knowledge helps. A habit of writing things down helps more.

The hard part is not diagnosis. It is holding the line on a vehicle that is almost right when the handover is already booked.

Terms

TODO(sign-off): location, hours and package to be confirmed.
